Oman has fascinated travelers with its diversity. A land where craggy mountains, golden deserts, historic ruins, monuments, wadis, azure and virgin beaches naturally decorated with its exotic and endangered fauna and flora, mingle to form a true Arabian fantasy.

Forts
Forts known as Ql'at in Oman are military defensive structures. It is believed that there are thousands of forts still in existence and each of which has played a distinct role in defining Oman 's rich and fascinating history. Striking examples of these monumental strongholds are Nizwa Fort, Bahla Fort, Rustaq, Nakhl and Al Hazm

Castles
Castles known as Husn is different from forts as castles are fortified residences. Jabrin Castle is an elegant palace noted for its architecture and interior design. The Ministry of Tourism in Oman are working on a major initiative to develop these two properties as targeted tourist attractions.

Towers
Towers are parts of the defensive structure of forts with stairs that lead you to the top. It is divided by doors and 'murder holes' to slow down the penetration of invaders. Nizwa Fort is famous for its large circular tower that provides a breath taking 360 degree view of the surrounding city, date palm plantations and mountains .

Tombs
Tombs are some of the historical sites that boost tourism in Oman . The tomb of Nabi Ayoub, also mentioned as Job in the old Testament. The tomb is located in the mountains, about 40 km from Salalah City .

Archaeological Sites
Archaeological sites that provide ancient trails such as the ancient harbour of Sumhuram in the Dhofar region dates back to 1 st century BC. Standing on the ruins of the city, it is not difficult to imagine ships coming into port to carry incense in those distant days to Egypt , India , China and other countries. This is just one among the list.

Natural Wonders
Oman being one of the most colourful and geologically diverse countries has massive rock formations which assumed unique landscapes from the faults, gorges, cliffs and caves.

Below the hajjar (rocky) mountains, a softer world awaits, the desert which serves as habitat to myriad species of plants and host a large variety of fauna. But Oman is a surprising desert as even without much rain, water is everywhere, in the seas, falls, wadis (stream beds), alflajes (innumerable channels that bring water from mountain springs and wadis).

Another dominant image of Arabia , is the camel described by a nomadic Bedouin with over 160 words attesting its importance in their survival. Whilst camel is the most storied, others bid attention such as the Arabian oryx, spiny-tailed lizards and Arabian leopards roam in the mountainous regions.

The unspoilt beaches where the giant green turtles return each year to the same beach to lay their eggs to start a new life cycle. The seas with its diversified marine life such as playful dolphins, rare species of whales. Oman is also a home to dozens of migratory bids species from flamingos to blue-cheeked bee-eaters.
